Twisting Egg Loops
This one little tip can increase the successful
amounts of hook-sets dramatically
Timothy Kusherets
Fish are generally not great at hitting offerings straight
on; that’s why many species of fish will actually bolt through
holding schools of baitfish and thrash their tails too and fro, rather
than run the risk of missing a tasty morsel.
Well, fishermen don’t have the luxury of fishing with many fish
and only one hook can be used at a time. Often times fish will become
frustrated and leave the area if they strike an offering that seems
strange or unnatural, making it essential that the strike works the
first time.
If you’re using an egg loop to hold a small cluster of eggs,
try twisting the loop to the inside of the hook. Having the loop to
the inside will hold the eggs and streamline the bite of Salmon and
Trout. Twisting the loop can also be done for fishermen who use Shrimp,
Corkies, and Yarn. So long as you use a single hook, this great fishing
knot works on any size of hook.
This one little tip can increase the successful amounts of hook-sets
dramatically. If the loop twists back to the outside of the hook simply
twist it back and continue fishing. It doesn’t matter what fishing
line you use, the line can take the twist no matter how many times
you use it.
